Ordered from Backcountry for years. Used to be if there was an issue, they were particularly helpful. Not sure why, but they are failing now.
Placed an order 2.5 weeks before I needed it but package got stuck in shipping limbo. It was shipped partway, then stalled for 1 week with no scans or movement. Their Mail Innovations shipping is the worst.
CS Rep John was useless in resolving problem, and full of douche attitude. Really unprofessional and hard to communicate with because he seemed to be stuck in bro-brah land.
Order still not delivered. I suspect they will eventually give me a refund, but that alone takes a month or so.
Can't imagine why I would order ever again, when there are so many other really good e-commerce companies.
The worst experince of my life, i bought I bike, then I call after more than a week to see what is the status and they didn't know where my bike was, the I receive an email saying that 3 people check my bike and it was ready to be shipped, I contacted support and they blain on me their mistakes, finally they find my bike, I contact the sales representative because they offered free shipping and first time 20% off and nothing happened, long story short 5 business day shipment turned in to 1 month and 5 days... never ever will buy anything from here!

We ordered a pair of size 9.5 men's shoes and they shipped us size 10. Returning them is next to impossible. They send a response email asking you to click on a link to see how to return. The link does nothing but bring you to their site so that you can make another purchase. No return information whatsoever. Bait and switch scam artists.
Backcountry.com uses fly-by-night shipping companies and doesn't help when your product doesn't get delivered. I ordered a kayak from backcountry.com and they used a freight company who called to give me a delivery date, when I would need to wait from 8am to 5pm. (Taking the whole day off work.) The kayak never arrived on that date, and I never heard from anyone. The freight company has a broken phone number. I called Backcountry.com and they said it was my responsibility to follow up with the freight company. That's right--although I ordered through Backcountry.com and *paid them* they took no responsibility for following up on my order. Since then, the freight company has 'scheduled' two more days and not shown up without a word. So, my $1,000 kayak is in limbo somewhere and Backcountry.com takes no responsibility for it. It's kind of unbelievable. Can you imagine REI or L. L. Bean treating customers this way? So, please avoid using backcountry.com and find a more reputable, honest outdoor company. Note that they are also involved in some very unethical business practices: https://blisterreview.com/industry-news/boycott-backcountry-com
Sent me a used item and the wrong one. Tried to get it settle for some credit they offered me $20 for $550 item... they don't seems to care at all. I returned it. Not recommend at all!
I posted earlier review as order confirmation
Was delayed, but rep was very professional & solved the problem. A glitch. Purchase
Is verifedd in transit with USPS. 4 stars. Thanks.
I ordered skis (5 days before Christmas) for my wife for Christmas with free next day shipping. I received the order confirmation and waited for its arrival but it didn't show. Early Christmas Eve I was worried so I called backcountry.com to see what the status was on my order. They casually told me the item was out of stock. I was never contacted by phone or email about this. I was upset and was casually told that if I wanted I could get a different size but it wouldn't come till after Christmas... but I would get free shipping. I wasn't offered a discount or anything else and knowing I could get the same deal from other places that they were offering me after they royally screwed me didn't seem like good customer service.
Terrible customer service. No real explanations on why order is canceled except saying "analytics team is uncomfortable processing order, sorry." And that was just from the live chat. A real person said the same thing. No explanation and I assume it is because my billing address is different from my shipping address but never confirmed. Never had an issue before. And most sites will state the billing and shipping must match. Nothing was clear. I do not feel comfortable supporting a company who gives the runaround and is not transparent with policies and explanations.
I purchased a very expensive jacket from their website and they didn't even have the decency to let me know that they had canceled by order, when i went on to chat with them I asked what happened to my order and they said they don't feel comfortable selling to me... WTF? Ok thanks for nothing I will buy my son his $600 canada gooose jacket somewhere else from now on!
I received the wrong pair of bike pedals from Backcountry. After a long wait to get a shipping label (UPS ground) I was notified that they would ship the correct pair about five days after they receive the incorrect pair. I received four emails from Customer Service, all with a different story, several of which were grammatically atrocious. What's going on with Backcountry? Consider me a "lost customer".
I ordered a Saris Bones 2-bike hitch rack on the evening of July 20,2020, and it arrived before lunch on July 22,2020! I had seen negative reviews about shipping so I called the company. They were extremely helpful and made sure the item was in stock and stayed on the line until my order went through. They went above and beyond. Thank you so much! Bike rack is perfect!
Shipping department slower than a Sears & Robuck Catalog. Once the package eventually does ship and get lost, customer service department couldn't care less. I'll be shopping elsewhere.
Amazingly, once they ship an item there is no way to track it or know when it will arrive. It changes hands from UPS to USPS and nobody knows where it is. I got an email from Backcountry that it was supposed to be delivered 3 days ago, now nobody knows. This place is a joke.
I am an ultra runner that was in desperate need of a new running vest (my UD SJ vest was almost 10 yrs old ewww). I am also a loyal REI member. REI had the product (ADV 12) but not the right size (L). So, after a long search on the interwebs I found it at Backcountry. Only problem was the crazy number of bad reviews for BC. I decided I better give them a call and see what was what. Got right through to a "gearhead" (Misha) who was polite, pleasant and most important, knowledgeable. My stuff arrived quickly and exactly as expected. I could not be happier! Thank you Misha and team! I will be back:-) -d
